I propose there are a few other key differences between us and Google (and the other guys doing great work), but it all revolves around culture.  I think that is what you are saying but you are diving down to a very specific component of that culture.  I would also echo your comments that the talent level is not all that different ... it is the way in whcich these folks go about their work, together.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;I am constantly amazed when I visit friends who work for places like Apple and IBM at the way they work together -- not on the same projects, but for the same mission, under the same guiding principles.  They all exist in a culture of innovation directed at their organizations mission.  Do we do that?  I think in spurts, but not as a rule.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Like I said, great post.
