Plone Bootcamp: In Top Condition

I have to share some lessons from the Plone Bootcamp (August 7-11, Penn State), hosted by Smeal College of Business. First lesson: if you can model a system, a process or an idea, you can represent that model in Plone. Second: Plone is an enterprise quality content management system. Indeed, I "understood" those claims to be true. But having graduated from bootcamp I have a deeper understanding of the facts supporting those claims. Penn State, through the WebLion project, has partnered with an international best-of-breed content management system. The fact that Plone is an open source software project is not accidental, but that's a diferent, and fascinating, subject.

Bootcamp was true to its name. Challenging, and never a dull moment. The drill sargeant was Joel Burton , a brilliant and experienced software developer, evangelist and teacher; an influential member of the Plone community and a member of the Plone Foundation. What was most remarkable about the bootcamp was that a week of mentoring outclassed more than a year of books, howtos, tutorials and experimentation. There's nothing like the experience having a mentor.
